I was shocked to see the Conservative Party express support for the anarchists in Ottawa and at the borders. They are flagrantly breaking the laws of the country to force their opinions on the rest of the country. They have cost Canadians many millions of dollars through their selfishness. There are now reports that they have nominated their own peace officers to enforce their wishes. That they have support from MLAs and MPs is disgraceful. It is especially interesting, but not surprising, that they are supported by conservatives. It aptly demonstrates that party power, not civil structure, is the real priority
I totally agree with Paul Ledaire's sentiments. While many areas of the pandemic response have not been handled well it seems that we are simply exchanging the wishes of one group for the wishes of another and more vocal group using illegal means to get their way. From day 1 there has been no compromise on either side of this issue. I agree that we need a plan but a plan that ignores science and simply wishes away COVID in a month in an obvious effort to appease a bunch of hooligans is not a plan. Its kowtowing to a small, vocal group who are openly flouting the law. Simply giving in to this group is going to have serious long term consequences for all of us and on future protests that are truly peaceful and respectful in nature.
When I read the rest of "Changes on Parliament Hill" I was feeling encouraged. The thought that the Conservative Party might stop being the Waffle Party that drops all of its platform in order to chase after the votes of yet another group while ignoring its base again seemed to be the message. And then I saw their stance on supporting this trucker convoy. Please, Conservative Party, establish a platform and stick to it. If the platform matches my views and you can convince me that I can trust you to stick with it then you will have my vote. Canada desperately needs a viable alternative to the current Liberal Party. So far, I'm not seeing one.
Hello, my fellow Canadiens. I just have a few statements to make. Because I live in Southern Alberta, I have seen, first hand, how hard life has become for them since the US/CAN border being closed. However, my feelings of the protest have changed over the week and I thought I would share. Right off the bat I want to say is that I have had 2 vaccines and a booster and it has never bothered me to show my “passport”, when ever it was needed. I have got used to wearing a mask and I think I will continue to wear a mask for personal reasons and I want to make a deal with you……I will NEVER point at you, or say under my breath “…..why do you NOT have a mask on, you are getting us all sick and I will ask you “not to point at me and say, why are you wearing a mask, you look stupid (that comment actually happened). Going forward, no matter what is decided I will be wearing a mask (for personal reasons) so please respect my decision and I will respect yours. We are Canadiens, we can do this…..we are True North Strong and Free. Please
I am totally disgusted with the behaviour of the members of the Conservative Party. That you would all support this unlawful behaviour by a group of selfish, uncaring individuals is beyond my comprehension. That the party believes some people's RIGHTS take preference over other people's RIGHTS-- I don't see this going in any positive way.
We are all tired of COVID 19. According to the science, the way out of this is by vaccination. Most of us have thought of what's best for the population and have done what is the right thing to do. Get vaccinated. This is not the first illness in history to require this.
These demonstrations are not about truckers. It is now anarchy and all you members of government are showing how weak you are. Talk, talk, talk and nothing is done to resolve the situation which is now destroying our economy and country. The majority of people are now losing confidence in our government. It is frustrating and very scary.
On a personal note. Mr. Kmiec, I am in your riding and voted for you this time around. Sorry but not next time.
Well when the conservatives finally eliminate all the safety measures we had and children get sick and die at least with your bill they will get to grieve longer
